Kompo V2 - One Touch Food Disposal

As with many, my Kompo didn’t arrive on the date that was given when I ordered.After a few days I chased this up & received shipping information very shortly after.

It’s a nice appliance although again ,as with other reviews there’s a lot of packaging materials.

Operation is simple, which is just as well considering the instruction quality!

Reduces everything we have given it although I will not be putting compostable bags in it again - they just melt around all the internals and are a nightmare to clean off afterwards.

Despite egg shells being the hardest thing being processed after only 2 weeks we have worn some of the coating off the bin and grinding arms. Kompo don’t seem too fussed about this, but I’m concerned about the long term durability, only time will tell

It’s actually a black compo (which I think I opted for). We’ve used it half a dozen times now and it has processed everything we have thrown at it (including raw and cooked sweetcorn cobs, a dozen eggshells and an assortment of other kitchen waste) except the circular end of a watermelon which sat on top of the blade and couldn’t be processed until retrieved and cut up. The only downside we have experienced is the non-stick coating which wore away behind the static blade after the first use.

Early days yet but so far its been a great little machine produces lovely compost easy to use and keep clean and no more smelly kitchen food waste bin all round winner.

Product doesn’t work

I love this. It gets rid of all our kitchen waste to make compost for our plants.

Takes a bit of getting use too. First use The machine worked up to 12.00 hours and the contents was still very mushy. Second use the machine worked even longer and nothing was mushed up. Found I had put the bin in the wrong way as there was no heat. Third use. Worked ok the timing was about 8 hours and although the compost wasn’t dry it was usable but there was water under the unit. I don’t know where it came from.
I think the instructions could have been made a bit clearer especially about which way the container was placed in the unit. It was only the warning on the unit said about mind the heat that I realised the unit was in the wrong position. Anyway I’ll keep persevering as I think the idea is good. Greta Palmer

Amazing bit of kit

Great way to minimise space and smell of compostable materials. The prices is clean, utilises some energy, but within a matey of hours you have a finished product, which is dry, pleasant smelling and can be used directly in the garden or put into the food waste bins for collection.

I finally found a way to get rid of fruit flies, just pop in the scraps and food that’s only gone off, switch on before I go to bed and I’m left with good fertiliser for the garden.

Really great - reduces my food waste to a powder - no week of smells and fox attempts while I wait for the weekly food waste collection. Faint whir while it works away but odourless operation. Using it daily and so far so good

It does a good job, the carbon is effective at eliminating smell. I have 2 issues. The documentation makes no mention of how long the carbon will remain effective. The second issue is that the modes are somewhat superfluous. I would much prefer that a default setting be allowed which starts the composting process on power up. This means that I can fill the bucket during the day and then have it power on during cheap rate electricity. I have home automation tools which would allow this. Unfortunately I have to manually start the composting process so cannot use my cheap rate tariff to compost my waste.

Works perfectly

Only used the unit a few times, and seems to work well.
However, user guide is poor, and feels translated from another language.
And the unit takes many hours to run even with little in it, so not convinced it is responding automatically to the load.

Did have some initial set up problems with setting the machine to run at night when I went to bed and not completing it’s routine correctly (it was an issue with me not seating the container correctly), other than that produces what it says it will do. Only problem really is the length of time it takes from ordering to delivery.

Well worth the wait. I’m very happy with my kompo. I pre ordered and faced an additional delay in receiving my kompo but Ben was great at responding to emails promptly.

KOMPO IS AMAZING! No fruit flies around the food bucket anymore. All our fruit & leftovers go straight into Kompo, as soon as its full, we switch it on & in a few hours it's all turned into dry compost, ready for the plants 🪴 I LOVE IT

This is an amazing product. And cant wait to start using on or garden. Just waiting to fill a bucket up to use.

Would have been a 5 but the lack of communication for the long wait and the delivery service leaving this expensive item on a door step.

I am so pleased that I no longer have to use our food waste recycling bins, especially in this hot weather. I simply scatter the waste onto the garden once Kompo has finished with it!

im guilty of looking forward to cooking scraps to make my next batch of compost.

Incredible machine, turns our kitchen food waste into compost, depending on what you put is to how long it takes to finish, soft items 3 to 4 hours, add in some soft bones and it adds a couple of hours. A 90 minute countdown lets you know when it will finish. Highly recommend it.
