Does it smell?

Kompo is fully enclosed and uses controlled heat and airflow during the cycle to prevent odours developing. Because waste is stabilised immediately rather than sitting and rotting, there’s no lingering food bin smell in your kitchen.

Most customers say the biggest surprise isn’t what they smell, it’s what they don’t.

Is it noisy?

There’s gentle internal movement during grinding and airflow during dehydration, but it’s designed for indoor kitchens, not garages or gardens. Many people run it in the evening or overnight without issue.

How long does a cycle take?

Typically 4–8 hours.

Press one button. Walk away.
By morning or the end of your workday, your food waste is dry, reduced, and odour-free.

No 30–60 day waiting. No layering. No turning.

*Depending on contents, auto cycle may last up to 12 hours.

What can I put in it?

Most everyday food waste, including:

• Fruit and vegetable scraps
• Coffee grounds
• Eggshells
• Meat and fish
• Dairy
• Small bones
• Compostable packaging

If it normally ends up in your food caddy, it likely goes in Kompo.

What can’t go in?

Hard bones, liquids on their own, excessive dairy, or non-compostable plastics.

Kompo is designed for food waste, not general rubbish.

Does it replace my council food bin?

Some customers use Kompo in addition to their food bin, processing their food waste through Kompo first. Why? Instead of a wet smelling mess you are left with a dry, odorless mix which is greatly reduced in volume.

Is it safe to use indoors?

Yes.

Kompo is a sealed countertop appliance designed specifically for indoor kitchens. The cycle uses controlled heat and airflow inside a contained chamber.

It’s no different in principle to running a dishwasher or oven — just purpose-built for food waste.

How much can it hold?

With a 3L bucket, Kompo is designed for daily household use.

Most families run it once per day or every couple of days, depending on cooking habits. Because waste is reduced by up to 80% in volume, you’ll be surprised how much fits inside.

What do I do with the Kompo Mix?

You get a dry, soil-like mix.

You can:
• Add it to garden soil
• Mix into planters
• Add to existing compost
• Dispose of it cleanly in general waste

Because it’s stabilised and dry, it doesn’t smell or attract pests.

Is it actually compost?

Kompo stabilises and dehydrates food waste to create a dry Kompo mix.

Traditional composting takes 30–60 days outdoors. Kompo accelerates the first 2 stages of that process indoors in hours, reducing volume and preventing methane-producing breakdown.

How much electricity does it use?

Approximately 0.7 kWh per cycle.

That’s similar to running a dishwasher cycle.

Considering it replaces constant food bin storage, transport, and landfill methane production, many customers see it as a smarter long-term solution.

Is it expensive to run?

No.

Running costs are low per cycle, and there are no ongoing subscription fees.

Filters last 6-12 months.

Will it attract pests?

No.

Because waste is enclosed and stabilised quickly, there’s no exposed rotting food. No flies. No rodents. No smell trails.

It removes the pest problem rather than creating one.

Is this just for eco reasons?

No. Most Kompo customers buy it for convenience first.

The environmental benefit is built in, but the real win is no smell and no mess.

What warranty comes with it?

Kompo comes with a 12 month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind.

If anything isn’t right, our support team is here to help.

How long does delivery take?

We dispatch quickly from our UK warehouse.

Most orders arrive within 2–5 working days.

You’ll receive tracking as soon as your Kompo ships, so you can follow it door to door.

Is delivery free?

Yes. Standard UK delivery is included.

There are no surprise shipping costs added at checkout.

Will it arrive assembled?

Yes.

Kompo arrives ready to use.
Unbox it, place it on your countertop, plug it in, and start your first cycle.

No complicated setup. No installation required.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Yes.

If it’s not right for your kitchen, you can return it within the stated return window. Details are clearly outlined in our returns policy.

High-ticket purchases should feel safe. We make sure they are.
