It’s brilliant in terms of turning most of your food stuff to dry dust, however, the turnaround time most definitely is not 3-6 hours! Many of mine go beyond 12 hours sadly (and because of this, the first machine was sent back and a replacement was sent (more like 14).its still working to the same long hours so clearly how it is.
The fact sheet that comes with it suggests only moderate amounts of meat/dairy/fat should go in but my experience so far is that NO fat whatsoever should be deposited (pork rind/bacon and chicken fat/left over meat that isn’t lean etc)as it just melts and stays like oil.
Bread and pasta clag up also.
Perfect though for all fruit and veg and flower/plant cuttings. I was hoping to purchase this and never again use the food recycle bin and that clearly isn’t possible but if you’re prepared to still recycle some foods and use this for the rest, it’s grand. It also ensures no flies or smell so also a plus.
That said for the amount it costs, am not sure it’s a worthy buy compared to recycling food waste conventionally.
There was a problem with the first machine. Reported it to the company, they sent me a free return label and replaced it. Excellent customer service.
The replacement is working as expected and we are glad we bought it. Deserves the five stars.
Really pleased with this composter. It deals with all the waste I didn't want to put directly into the garden composter. Its easy to use and clean. The machine deals with small bones very easily along with melon rind, orange peel - the list goes on.
As another user noted, the non stick rubs off after a few uses, particularly under the stainless steel blade and off the paddles, so best treat this as a shipping protective coating. It doesn't affect the function at all. Even this early in the year I'm appreciating the lack of fruit flies. I'd certainly consider a full stainless steel version if it came out :) Let me know if you want me to test one ;)
